Originally released in 1970, George’s revolutionary masterpiece has now been fully rescanned and remastered by the Australian film archives into a stunning cinematic experience.

Innermost Limits is George Greenough’s perspective of the innovations that changed surfing forever. Greenough chronicles ground zero of the shortboard revolution as it evolved in the late 1960s.

Greenough’s groundbreaking point-of-view deep tube riding sequences are unique and the first of their kind. Wielding a 28-pound waterproof camera rig on his shoulder, Greenough was the first surfer and filmmaker to capture the view from the inside of the barrel on film.

‘You might be in there for only a few seconds in real time, but in your head, it goes on for hours. It is an experience that’s hard to describe, riding inside of a big, grinding wave. Often you are riding so deep inside the tube that you don’t make it out. You take a terrible wipeout. What matters is when you’re in there, it’s the time interval when you’re inside the wave. Time enters space, a zone of its own. The only reality is what’s happening right then.’ — George Greenough.

We love you, George!
